Our son has wanted to hike the AT for a couple of years, and on April 1, I dropped him off at Springer Mountain. As excited as I was for him, I was sad as I saw him leave, and worried, too (he's 17 years old). As I was saying good bye, a couple passed by us that I took notice of briefly. I found out the next week that they were Brett and Bronwyn, and I've been so thankful for God's timing ever since. I actually had an article hanging on our fridge that someone from a small town in NC had sent me about your ministry and hadn't taken the time to read it yet - pretty cool, huh? It's been awesome to follow their progress in both the journal and pictures - and at the same time follow our sons journey. I've prayed for a mentor for him over the last few years, and thought the opportunity had passed, but in God's timing I believe he answered that prayer. Thank you for this ministry. Slingshot's mom.

I first heard about you guys and your trail ministry in 2004 when we were planning for our thru-hike. A good friend of ours, Angela Carter, of Brushy Creek Baptist Church (Taylors, SC), forwarded us your 50-page letter to the NAMB and we read it with great enthusiasm. We wish you and your ministry well, and will be praying for you. By the way, I was at the SoRuck this year, Trail Days last year, and other hiker get-togethers and never knew you were there. Would have been great to talk to you. Keep on in Him!

I also understand how hard one prays for others to catch the vision that God has given you for ministry. God is always faithful in letting us catch a glimpse of His vision. He also provides means, money/equipment, to assist us in our ministry for his glory. Without those physical needs being met, it is very hard to facilitate ministry in tangible ways. This organization is one that I feel has answered God's call to step out and be part of His greater vision. One way we can be faithful to our call to help those in need is to give generously to His work. Prayerfully consider how you can help this amazing, vibrant organization.

| Name: | Bill Irwin | | E-Mail: | | | City: | Sebec | | State: | ME | | Country: | USA | | URL: | www.billirwin.com | | Comments: | | Dear Fellow hikers, If you have ever been thirsty, hot, wet, cold or tired while hiking then you know what a wonderful treat it is to suddenly think that you are looking at a mirage, to discover that it was provided by Trail Angels like Craig and Susie Miles. What a wonderful thing it is and what a lift in ones spirits to have this happen while hiking . What most of us don't think about is that doing Trail Angel ministry takes a lot of planning, organization, and money to carry out their goals of hhospitality. As you may know I am the blind man who hiked the AT in 1990 with my Seeing-Eye Dog, Orient. That adventure has given me an audience with most of the hikers since, and in that capacity I am coming to you in regard to Craig and Susie. They are truly ambassidors of our Lord Jesus Christ and are committed to their ministry of hhospitality for the hikers on the AT. They have already ministered to numerous people this year and have great plans for the future. As you know people who work for God have to live just like the rest of the people in the World do and need our support in continueing their very worthwhile ministry. My wife, Debra and I are supporting them and it would be very helpful to Craig and Susie if you will also. All their support goes twoard the yummy treats, transportation, and their humble and simpple lifestyle. With our continued financial support they will be able to continue this ministry for many years and touch the lives of thousands of people who have givine up hope in humanity. Craig and Susie, thank you so much for your obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ! I know that in the capacity of Trail Angels you will be Jesus in skin for many. Keep up the great work! Happy trails and we hope to see you out there soon. In the shadow of the wings of the King! Bill Irwin aka Blind Hiker The Orient Express AT GA-Me 1990 | |
