Step 2: Decision 1- A.T. Servants will write or call back
Welcome to step 2!
We love to receive emails and applications from people who are interested in hiking the A.T.! Since we are hikers ourselves, there are times when it may be a while before we get back to you. We strive to answer your application or email within two weeks. All applications need to be in to us no later than October 1 of the year before your intended hiker. If you would like, feel free to call us at (706) 482-8537.
If you have applied, we will either schedule an interview with you or encourage you to take a few more steps to ready yourself for such a hike.
If you have asked questions, we will do our best to answer them so that you can make an informed decision whether or not to apply.
Step 3: Decision 2- Interview with A.T. Servants
Congratulations on getting this far!
After we have received your application and determined that we would like to pursue it further, we will contact you to schedule either a phone or in-person interview. All of our Trail Chaplain decisions are made by a committee, so you may be contacted by several board members. It is our hope to respond to applicants within 2 weeks after their interview.
Step 4: Decision 3- On Trail Interview
We require that all Trail Chaplains undergo an on-trail interview. This hike will last at least one night and may or may not be alongside other applicants. This is a fun way for us to get to know your trail manner.
By the time that you have gotten to this step, we have contacted all of your references. Please remain in prayer throughout the entire application process. We attempt to give you our final decision within two weeks of the on-trail interview.
